Reuse documents and details you already saved
The same documents come up again and again: photo ID, proof of income, a recent bank statement, references. If you keep them in my-id.ca, the next business that asks takes a few taps, not another evening of scanning.
Forms fill themselves in
When a business sends you a form, it opens with the details your profile already holds, such as your name, date of birth, addresses and family members. Check them, fill in anything missing and submit. What you add is saved to your profile for next time.
To make this work well, keep your profile up to date. See Keep your profile accurate.
Attach a document you already have
On a business's checklist:
- Sign in and open Documents, then the business that sent the checklist.
- Tap Open assistant.
- For an item that asks for a document, choose Pick from my files, or search your files by name.
If exactly one saved file clearly matches the item, for example the ID scan saved on your profile, the assistant suggests it straight away. You always confirm before it's sent.
Before sending, the assistant also checks the file for common problems, such as an expired date or a missing page. See The assistant checks your documents before you send them.
You stay in control
- Nothing is sent automatically. A business receives only what you submit to them.
- They don't see your profile or files. See What a business can see.
- There's a record. Your Sharing History lists each form you sent, to whom and when.
Coming from a guest link?
If a business first sent you a guest link and you later sign up with the same email address, what you sent through that link is already in your account and ready to reuse. See Claim your guest documents.

Frequently asked questions
- Will a business see my whole profile?
- No. A business sees only what you submit to them, such as the form you completed or the files you attach to their checklist. Your profile and files stay private.
- How do I attach a document I already saved?
- Open the business's page under Documents in my-id.ca, open the assistant, and choose Pick from my files on the item. If one saved file clearly fits, the assistant suggests it first. You confirm before anything is sent.
- I used a guest link before. Are those documents saved?
- If you create a my-id.ca account with the same email address the business used, the documents you sent through the guest link are already in your account.
