Check documents when you upload them
Check documents when you upload them
Open the checklist the business sent you, using your guest link and emailed code or your my-id.ca account. Upload a file to its item. You do not need an account for a guest link.
What you see
Your upload is saved first. Any measured or PDF warnings appear under the file. A photo check may take a little longer, and updates on the page while it is open. Warnings use your portal language: English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Hindi, Bengali, Ukrainian or Chinese.
- Replace file: choose a new file. The old one stays until the replacement uploads successfully.
- Send anyway: keep the file and acknowledge the warning. You do not need permission.
The business can already see your saved upload and its warnings. It sees a separate note when you choose Send anyway. Leaving the page does not cancel the upload. A busy or unavailable checker does not prevent you from sending documents.
What is checked
Photos may be flagged as too dark, blurred, small, angled, covered or cut off; apparently missing pages or a signature; expired or outside the requested period; the wrong item; or possibly needing translation into English or French.
All supported files can be checked for an exact duplicate, fewer files than requested, or inability to open the file. PDF forms can also be checked for an empty signature field. PDFs do not get the photo-reading checks. A warning can be mistaken, and no warning does not guarantee acceptance by the business.
Using the account assistant
In your my-id.ca account, open Documents, choose the business and select Open assistant. It can take photos, use your saved files and suggest items for several files. That flow checks files before its send confirmation. You can still send despite a warning.
Better photos
Use even light, put the page flat, include all four corners and upload every required page. Check dates and signature areas yourself.
Privacy
Photo reading runs on our own servers. Documents are not sent to OpenAI, Google or Anthropic. Checks do not verify identity, detect fraud, approve documents or translate them.
